You already know what that implies for the streaming juggernaut because we can already hear the fireworks ringing in the new year. In 2023, Netflix will debut new programming as well as new seasons of existing programming. Despite our excitement for the upcoming new releases, we regrettably won’t be seeing the return of some Netflix series in 2019.
New seasons of popular Netflix shows like Stranger Things, The Umbrella Academy, Bridgerton, Ozark, Dead to Me, Emily in Paris, Firefly Lane, and many others were released throughout the year. 2022 was a wonderful year for Netflix.
However, some of these series won’t be back in the new year for a variety of reasons. Why? Well, some shows were cancelled, while others saw their runs finish in 2022. There are other series that are most likely not going to be renewed because their movies won’t be ready for a 2023 release. I know. This is really unfortunate.
We can’t help but reflect on some of our favourite Netflix series that won’t be coming back as 2023 draws near. Therefore, we made a list of the seven Netflix series that we will miss in 2023. If you’re intrigued, keep reading!
Netflix shows we’ll miss in 2023
stranger things
Everyone is anticipating the return of Stranger Things for its final season after an exciting two-part fourth season. But sadly, season 5 of Stranger Things won’t be available in 2023. The popular sci-fi series is rumoured to begin filming in Atlanta, Georgia, in May 2023, but a completion date is not yet known. Before the new episodes move on to post-production, we’re probably looking at five to six months of production. Since Stranger Things relies heavily on visual effects, post-production will take up the majority of the show’s time. The fifth season is anticipated to debut around the middle of 2024, although it won’t be for a while until we learn the exact release date.
Dead to Me
On November 17, 2022, Dead to Me made a triumphant return with its third season after an agonisingly long absence. However, because Dead to Me season 3 is the final season, this was the last time viewers would see the odd friendship of Jen and Judy. We would have wanted to see where the plot went next in a fourth season with that bittersweet finish, but the third season effectively put a stop to the black comedy series. Warrior Nun
The loss of the adored fantasy series Warrior Nun was one of the Netflix cancellations in 2022 that really hurt us. The massive streaming service decided against producing a third season after just two. It appears that the viewing figures fell short of Netflix’s expectations to support a second season. As was to be expected, this devastated and perplexed a lot of fans. Fans, though, aren’t letting up and are making a strong effort to get Netflix to reconsider or persuade another streaming service to take the fantasy series on.
